Beyond Advertising: How Bus Shelters Became Part of the Singapore Night Festival Experience
- Case Studies
What if a Bus Shelter could become more than a place for advertising?
For Singapore Night Festival (SNF) 2026, Stellar Ace and HeritageSG explored that possibility by transforming selected bus shelters across Bras Basah and Bugis into illuminated festival installations.
For the first time in the precinct, familiar transit spaces became part of the festival itself – bringing the year's “Myths and Legends” theme to street level and extending the experience beyond museums, heritage buildings and traditional festival venues.
Making the Commute Part of the Experience
Singapore Night Festival is known for transforming Bras Basah and Bugis after dark through artworks, performances and light-based experiences.
But instead of relying only on audiences to seek out festival installations, this collaboration brought the experience directly into spaces people already encounter as part of their everyday journeys.
Bus shelters offered a unique canvas – familiar, functional and embedded within the streetscape. By reimagining these everyday spaces, the festival became part of the journey itself, creating unexpected moments of culture and discovery along the way.

New Canvas for “Myths and Legends”
Selected shelters were transformed with illuminated creative inspired by folklore, fantasy and the “Myths and Legends” theme. The activation also included festival map boards and a creative rooftop installation developed in partnership with Income Insurance and Singapore Night Festival.
Together, these executions transformed familiar transit infrastructure into festival touchpoints – allowing commuters and visitors to encounter SNF while waiting for a bus, walking through the precinct or simply going about their day.
Extending the Festival After Dark
The activation demonstrates how OOH can play a role beyond delivering reach and visibility.
By integrating creative experiences into everyday transit spaces, the activation extended the festival into the streets of Bras Basah and Bugis – connecting media, culture and placemaking while creating moments of discovery along everyday journeys. This reflects the partnership's wider ambition to bring the festival into public spaces in a new way.
For brands, it opens up a different way of thinking about OOH: not only “Where should my ad appear?”, but “What could this space become?”
Beyond the Boundaries of Traditional OOH
This campaign shows what can happen when the media space itself becomes part of the creative idea.
A bus shelter can become an illuminated installation. A daily commute can become an unexpected encounter with culture. And an OOH asset can become part of the story itself.
At Stellar Ace, we combine the reach of our OOH network with creative thinking and strategic partnerships to transform everyday touchpoints into memorable experiences.
