Singapore, 2 September 2026 - SMRT Corporation Ltd today launched a charity-themed train as part of its Journeys for Good initiative. The train highlights the work of 12 selected charities with Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status in Singapore.

Mr Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and for Transport, was the Guest of Honour at the launch.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by SMRT and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) in May 2026, SMRT committed S$1 million to support the publicity needs of selected IPCs. Stellar Ace, SMRT's advertising arm, will provide the advertising space for their campaigns. This will help the IPCs raise public awareness, support their fundraising and attract more volunteers.

The first phase of Journeys for Good began in June 2026 with the selection of the first group of IPCs. A total of 179 IPCs submitted campaign proposals. With the strong response, Stellar Ace doubled the number selected IPCs from six to 12. This allows a wider range of causes and communities to be represented.

The 12 selected IPCs presented strong campaigns covering a wide range of causes. These include healthcare, disability inclusion, food assistance and community services. The full list is provided below.

The Journeys for Good charity train gives the initiative a highly visible platform. The charity train features the campaigns and causes of the 12 IPCs and brings their stories into commuters' daily journeys. It also helps the public learn more about the communities they serve.

The first charity train will begin operating on the North-South and East-West Lines on 3 September 2026. A second charity train will be launched one week later. Commuters can scan QR codes to learn more about the IPCs, their work and the causes they champion.

“Millions of journeys take place every day on our trains and at our stations and bus shelters. Through Journeys for Good, we are extending the use of our transit advertising spaces to support good causes. We hope to inspire positive action, help charities share their messages and encourage more Singaporeans to contribute to meaningful causes,” said Mr Tony Heng, President, Stellar Experience

The remaining 167 IPCs that submitted proposals will also receive complimentary advertising support. Each IPC will receive two bus shelter bulletin placements for 26 weeks. The support includes media space, production and printing.

After the inaugural 2026 edition, another group of IPCs will be selected in March 2027. SMRT and MCCY will continue to support the publicity needs of community causes. They will also create more opportunities for IPCs to connect with Singaporeans, strengthen the culture of giving and inspire more people to volunteer or contribute in other meaningful ways.

Cause and Campaign Concept

1

Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations

ABLE supports persons with physical disabilities and their caregivers as they rebuild their lives after a stroke, illness or injury. Through rehabilitation, reintegration, return-to-work programmes and caregiver support, ABLE helps people regain independence, reconnect with their communities and rediscover purpose.

Its Journeys for Good campaign highlights the everyday moments that make life meaningful, from going home and meeting friends to returning to work. Through simple and relatable scenes, the campaign shows that although life may change after an acquired physical disability, everyday life is worth returning to.

2

Ambulance Wish Singapore

Ambulance Wish Singapore (AWS) supports terminally ill patients and their loved ones by granting wishes. With the help of volunteers, AWS creates positive end-of-life experiences for patients with a limited prognosis. It brings joy, peace and comfort beyond hospital walls and into homes.

Its campaign, “Every Wish Celebrates A Life”, presents end-of-life care as a celebration of life. Using real wishes granted to beneficiaries, the campaign shows that fulfilling a final wish is a meaningful tribute to a life well lived. It offers dignity, comfort and joy to patients and their families.

3

Blossom Seeds Limited

Blossom Seeds supports frail, vulnerable, socially isolated and active seniors through befriending, outreach, volunteer work and community programmes. The charity connects companies, community partners and volunteers to build meaningful relationships. It helps seniors live with dignity, purpose and companionship.

Its campaign, “Community Helping Community, Senior Helping Senior”, empowers seniors to remain active, valued and purposeful, regardless of mobility, physical or cognitive challenges. By caring, connecting and contributing, seniors can support one another and build stronger communities.

4

Breast Cancer Foundation

Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) is a registered charity and IPC established in 1997. It promotes early detection and supports the breast cancer community. BCF provides education, psychosocial programmes, practical assistance and emotional support to patients, survivors and caregivers.

As part of BCF's Young Women Initiative, the campaign raises awareness that breast cancer can affect women at any age. It gives younger women useful knowledge, highlights the challenges of facing breast cancer at a younger age and stresses the importance of early detection. The campaign is supported by findings from BCF's A Study in Pink research.

5

Care Community Services Society

Care Community Services Society serves more than 3,800 beneficiaries through programmes that help young people, seniors and those facing hardship build strength and resilience. Its work includes mentoring children and youth, engaging vulnerable seniors, supporting former offenders and helping others in need.

Every child deserves a safe and supportive place to learn, grow and flourish. More than a physical space, 808 @ MacPherson is a caring community where confidence grows, potential is nurtured and futures are shaped.

6

Caring for Life

Caring for Life is a Singapore charity that works to prevent suicide and build a suicide-resilient community. It equips individuals, families, workplaces and communities to recognise distress early, respond with care and strengthen protective support before a crisis occurs.

Its campaign promotes the message “Suicide Prevention is Everyone's Business”. Through everyday scenes of people noticing, caring and walking alongside one another, it encourages Singaporeans to build a culture of care where support begins early and within the community.

7

Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

For more than a century, Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital has been a trusted pillar of care in Singapore. Building on its legacy of compassion, it provides accessible healthcare and community care. This helps seniors and the wider community live with dignity, purpose and a better quality of life.

What began in 1910 as a commitment to care has become a legacy spanning generations. “Write the Next Chapter With Us” celebrates this journey and invites the public to support, partner with or join Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital in carrying its legacy forward.

8

O’Joy Limited

O’Joy is a social service agency that supports vulnerable seniors and people facing mental health challenges. Established in 2004, it provides counselling, case management, caregiver support, active ageing programmes and home-based services. O’Joy supports more than 800 people each year, guided by its vision of helping them flourish emotionally and socially.

“Start Here” is an ongoing mental wellness movement that encourages everyone to take the first step towards better mental well-being. This may mean seeking help, supporting someone in need or learning more about mental health. Every journey begins somewhere, and that first step can start here.

9

Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic

Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic (SBFC) provides high-quality and comprehensive healthcare to people in need. Its services include traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), complementary cancer care, on-site TCM for seniors and professional counselling. SBFC aims to improve physical and mental health without adding financial stress.

Its holistic care model combines TCM and professional counselling. SBFC serves more than 250,000 patients each year, and 70% receive free treatment. The campaign aims to expand its outreach and raise funds to sustain these services.

10

Singapore Environment Council

The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) believes that a sustainable Singapore starts with all of us. It works with people, communities and organisations to raise environmental awareness, encourage responsible choices and turn good intentions into meaningful action. This helps create a cleaner, healthier and more resilient Singapore.

The choices we make today shape the Singapore we leave behind. From learning about the environment to saving energy and caring for shared spaces, everyday actions can become lasting habits passed from one generation to the next.

11

Viriya Community Services

Established in 2001, Viriya Community Services provides family assistance, mental health support and specialised care across Singapore. Its integrated, multidisciplinary approach delivers tailored support to more than 5,000 people and families each year. It meets people where they are, ensures cost is not a barrier and strengthens communities through compassion.

“Journeys We Share” invites people to connect by seeking support or opening a door for someone else. One conversation can bring fresh hope and mark the start of something new. It reassures people that help is available when they are ready, because everyone deserves access to care.

12

Willing Hearts CLG Ltd

Willing Hearts supports vulnerable and disadvantaged people and families through a wide range of services. These include free daily meals, a homeless shelter, a safe space for rough sleepers, active ageing activities, training facilities, healthcare programmes, a dental clinic and a kidney dialysis centre. Its beneficiaries include low-income and single-parent families, seniors living alone, persons with illnesses or disabilities, and migrant workers.

The “Journeys for Good” campaign raises awareness of Willing Hearts' mission and its services for disadvantaged members of society. It seeks greater public support so the charity can reach more people in need. Willing Hearts also hopes to strengthen the kampong spirit and the belief that unity is strength.
